Gabby & Jon Michael were the winners of our Lumin Images Wedding Giveaway last year, immediately winning Whitney and me over with their love story. Now, after experiencing their wedding day with them, it’s so obvious that their words about each other were genuine. The part of their story that really won us over was the last paragraph, written by Jon Michael about Gabby:
“I can’t begin to describe the joy that this woman brings me. She loves me sacrificially, supports me unconditionally, believes in me whole heartedly, gives unreal back rubs, and is way too beautiful to actually be in love with me. I thank God for her every single chance that I get because he has truly blessed me. It is an honor to be a part of her life, and it brings me to tears thinking that I get to spend my life loving her, providing for her, and serving her. I adore her, and I know that the rest of our story is just going to get better. “

Their ceremony was at Stambaugh Auditorium and we went to Ford Nature Center for bridal party portraits before their reception at Mr. Anthony’s. My favorite moment during the day (and up there with favorite moments EVER), was during the ceremony. I’ll preface it by saying that I am a sucker for anything acoustic, and anything about love. I didn’t initially see anyone set up to sing during the ceremony, but mid-way through two of their friends went to the front and began singing the most beautiful song. When everyone else in the room stood up to sing along, I about lost my mind! If you’ve ever been in a room where a group of people sing a song together in celebration, you’ll know that it is a humbling, beautiful moment. While Gabby and Jon Michael were so thankful we chose them, I can’t help but feel like I gained more. These are two people who make you want to be better— at life and at love.
And to continue all the sappiness today, it was also the last wedding Whitney and I will shoot together as “Lumin”. I’m sure we’ll second shoot for each other in the future, but this was the last one we have booked together for awhile. We savored the day and had so much fun adventuring around Youngstown with the bridal party. It made me so nostalgic for the days we were just starting out and shot together more often than not, learning to navigate the craziness of a wedding day together.
